KFC Restaurant
New Zealand
Client: KFC Restaurant

Architect: J. Thomas McDonald

Key Features:
Revised corporate Layouts and furniture designs were integrated with new materials and colors to distinguish the restaurants in New Zealand from their American counter parts.

This required the reuse of corporate approved structures revamped into a more up market environment while maintaining an identifiable KFC feel to the restaurants. This was achieved by the extensive use of natural colors and materials, such as soft earth tones, wood and landscape imagery combined with a local preference for more private dinning areas.

The use of dropped ceilings, mixed materials and revised “booth” style seating defined spaces more clearly while creating a calmer dinning experience. Concealed lighting provided the necessary illumination while feature fittings created the local atmosphere desired.
